NutriSystem Update Week Two NSNation Blogger

I’m weighing in every Monday as I start each new week on NutriSystem as a NSNation blogger. I’m really happy to say that I lost two more pounds! That’s seven pounds in two weeks! I’m really enjoying the food. I haven’t tried anything that I didn’t like and I’m never hungry. The diet includes dessert but I’ve only felt like eating it twice. Adding salads and veggies to lunch and dinner has really made a huge difference in reducing calories without feeling hungry.

I was hoping to have settled into a pretty good routine for working out by the end of the second week but it didn’t work out as planned. I was thinking that I was going to jog with Chase each day as if that was going to be easy. If you need to loose weight and you have an athletic teenager all you need to do is try to keep up with them jogging! The great plan that I had was to get Chase to go jogging with me so that he could work on conditioning by jogging along at my pace for a few miles without stopping – HA! (I think I should  point out that I’m only 4’11 and I basically have to jog just to keep up with Grant and Chase when they’re walking.) The last time Chase and I went jogging together was last year when he was a chunky 12 year old that only played football or basketball with his friends every once in a while for fun. After a year on the football, wrestling and track team and  also growing about a foot taller than me, I found myself struggling to keep up with him after maybe the first five minutes!

Instead of telling him to stop, I tried to keep up. Oh my God, it was a struggle! He’s such a good sport, he kept jogging back to me and saying, “Don’t you stop, come on mama, you got this!” It was pretty awesome and I had such a great time but I’m thinking I almost had a heart attack three or four times – we were only gone for an hour. We got home around noon and by three o’clock I was so ready to pass out! I could barely get out of bed the next morning because it felt like both of my legs were broken and it really took about three days for me to feel like I could actually run again! Needless to say, we have devised a new plan. We’re going to alternate jogging days and strength training video days so that I can recover and we can tone up our muscles.

I’m really loving how well the NutriSystem diet is working so whenever I get a steady plan for working out I really think I’ll be able to meet my goal of loosing 25-30 pounds.

So far my favorite lunch is the Spicy Kung Pao noodles with lots of veggies added in. I cut up two cremini (baby bella) mushrooms, a few cabbage leaves, 8 sugar snow peas, half of a small carrot, a handful of broccoli florets, four slices of zucchini, three slices of onion and two pieces of deli sliced roasted chicken then stir fried it all together with vegetable stock, ginger, garlic and sesame seeds.

I made the noodles in the microwave following the directions on the package, mixed them in with the veggies and chicken and sprinkled with some sliced almonds and fresh parsley. It was pretty delicious and super filling.
